The European Commission (EC) had launched six consultations aiming to debate on the proposals on materials in contact with drinking water.
The first quarter of 2024 has been chosen as the time range for the adoption of the legislative proposals. The different consultations comprehend:
- A public consultation which aims to the European positive list of starting substances for organic materials, compositions of metallic materials, etc.
- A public consultation which aims to prepare the list of starting substances, compositions, or constituents to be used in the manufacture of materials or products intended to be in contact with drinking water.
- A public consultation which sets out the methodologies for testing starting substances, compositions, and constituents.
- A public consultation establishing the parameters of acceptance for testing and accepting final materials.
- A public consultation which contains certain rules for manufacturers, importers, or authorized representatives and their obligation to draw up an EU declaration of conformity for final materials which will be in contact with drinking water.
- A public consultation on the harmonization of specifications for the marking of product in touch with drinking water.
