BELAC - EN ISO/IEC 17025
The IBE-BVI lab is accredited by BELAC, the Belgian accreditation
organism, according to EN ISO/IEC 17025. This accreditation is audited by the Belgian
government and recognized worldwide.
The EN ISO/IEC 17025 is a standard that
defines the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration
laboratories.
UN
The IBE-BVI lab is also recognized by the Belgian and the Dutch authorities for testing of all packaging intended to be used for the transport of dangerous goods.
Based on the IBE-BVI reports, IBE-BVI and T&CPI are
delegated and mandated by the authorities to issue UN-certificates for all
transport modes. These certificates are recognized worldwide.
FAVV
In Belgium the
IBE-BVI lab is recognized by the Federal Agency for Food Safety for testing
overall migration on materials intended to come into contact with food.

What does it mean?
IBE-BVI has been recognized by the Belgian Bureau for Standardization (NBN) as a sectoral Operator (SO) for standardization activities at European and international level regarding packaging.
IBE-BVI/SO functions as the Belgian secretariat for the packaging sector (users and producers), more specifically regarding the work of CEN/TC 120-261 and ISO/TC 51-52-122.
IBE-BVI is also an active part of several international CEN and ISO working groups defending the needs and interests of our members on a neutral base, with technical background support.
Before a standard is adopted, the draft standard is first subject to a public review. This means that anyone can comment on the draft.

While ISO 17025 provides general guidelines for testing and calibration laboratories, it is important to note that the scope of accreditation defines only specific tests that our laboratory is accredited for.
If tests are performed that are outside the scope of this accreditation, the quality manual, which is also accredited according to ISO 17025, clearly documents the procedures and processes for managing these situations. This also involve conducting the tests adhering to relevant standards and ensuring transparency with clients about the limitations of equipment. We think it’s crucial to maintain thorough documentation, training, and communication mechanisms to ensure that all tests, regardless of accreditation, are performed to the highest quality standards and meet client expectations.
To
ensure the quality of test results, we implement several steps. Firstly, we
verify our equipment regularly to ensure proper functioning and accurate
measurements. Secondly, we use validated methods or (inter)national standards
for conducting tests, ensuring reliability and comparability of results.
Additionally, we maintain a robust quality assurance system, including regular
calibration, proficiency testing, and internal/external audits. Our staff
undergoes extensive training and follow established protocols to minimize
errors and ensure consistency.
Lastly, we have a review process in place, based on the 4-eyes principle, to
verify the accuracy and validity of test results before they are reported to
clients.
To
track customer satisfaction with our services, we employ a yearly customer
satisfaction survey. This survey allows us to gather feedback from our clients
regarding their experience with our organization. Additionally, we have a
well-established protocol in place to handle any complaints or questions that
our customers may have. By addressing customer concerns promptly and
effectively, we aim to ensure their satisfaction with our services and
continuously
improve our performance.
We
believe our organization is maintaining a high level of quality in its
services. Based on the low number of complaints, our adherence to the latest
standards, the use of calibrated equipment and our highly trained personnel, these
are all indicators of our commitment to quality. While we don’t have a
definitive rating, these factors still suggest that our services are of a high
standard and will meet, or even exceed, our customer’s expectations.
